Intersegmental Partnerships

Importance of Collaboration

Most K-12 schools, colleges, and universities operate in isolation from each other and even within each site. Even within a grade level, teachers are rarely provided time for collaboration with their peers. Collaboration across grade levels is even rarer; across institutions, it is almost unheard of. This results in a disconnected collection of courses students pass through instead of a meaningful

development of knowledge. College Bridge was developed to address this need and bridge the work between K-12 and Higher Ed faculty through intersegmental partnerships focused on improving specific student outcomes that lead to college success.

K-16 Academic Alignment

Why This Is Important

For decades higher education institutions have grappled with low completion rates, especially for underrepresented students. A major factor is students’ academic preparation for college. A proven solution to this problem is the alignment of curriculum, assessments, and pedagogy done by teacher-professor teams at the local level. College Bridge facilitates such partnerships from development to evaluation, and can also step in at several points in between.

Targeted Outcomes
  • Increased readiness rates for college-level coursework without support
  • Increased pass rates for college-level courses
  • Increased rates of freshmen to sophomore retention
  • Increased college completion rates
