There are many questions students, parents and counselors may be asking that we cannot yet answer. But, Yes, COVID-19 is impacting college admissions. It will take time to assess the full impact of cancelled exams, school closures, and the health of the nation to determine how policies and practices will be adjusted to accommodate students.
All aspects of college selection and future admission are being affected.
Current high school seniors are now faced with making an important life decision with minimal guidance. Students will struggle with getting answers to questions about necessary items such as financial aid, housing, orientation, and other college transition steps. Additionally, many families will likely have increased concerns about their student possibly leaving home after high school graduation.
For high school juniors, every aspect of their college qualifications are being impacted. Students may not perform as well academically working alone at home. All extracurricular opportunities have stopped. The upcoming months that were to be full of important exams have now been cancelled or postponed.
